Open-desert racing is one of the few “major events” that actually reaches this end of Nye County. Even when the course is closer to Reno, Vegas, or the Beatty country, chase crews cut across 95, 50, and the Tonopah roads.

Watch for chase trucks on 361 that are not from here. They are usually polite and usually in a hurry. Give them the lane on the straights; do not match their speed in the dips south of town.

The Record will post a specific course notice when an organizer files one that names our roads. Until then this is the standing flag: weekends in spring and fall are when the circus rolls.
