The Bureau of Land Management’s statewide competitive geothermal lease sale remains scheduled for Oct. 20. The offering totals 83 parcels and roughly 265,691 acres in Lyon, Churchill, Mineral, Humboldt, Esmeralda, Lander, Nye, Eureka, Lincoln, and White Pine counties.

The online auction runs through Efficient Markets. Successful lessees receive an initial 10-year term with possible extensions for diligent work or production. Standard stipulations address cultural resources, threatened species, and other protections; additional parcel-specific conditions appear in the sale notice and amendments.

Revenue splits send half to the state, a quarter to the county of the parcel, and a quarter to the U.S. Treasury. The sale follows earlier environmental assessments and comment periods by the respective districts.

Local operators and land users watching Nye and Mineral parcels can review the final sale notice and maps on blm.gov. No award results are available yet.
