Sand Mountain Recreation Area, east of Fallon, is not in Gabbs. It still changes our Saturday. When the dune is busy, U.S. 50 through Middlegate carries extra trailers, and the 361 turnoff gets the overflow of people who “found a dirt road on the map.”

Stay on designated routes. The playa west of town is not a dune park. BLM tickets and stuck recoveries are both expensive.

If you are headed to Fallon for groceries, leave earlier than you think. The return on Sunday afternoon is the worse snarl.

Cold Springs and the 50 bars will be loud. That is not a complaint. It is a traffic report.
